Breaking The Cycle: Pure Class Perspectives on Mental Health Conference, New College Lanarkshire. 3rd December 2024

A guest speaker at New College Lanarkshire’s annual Breaking The Cycle conference. I joined author, musician and social commentator Darren McGarvey, PhD researcher Gavin Brewis, and student Julie Webster at the Coatbridge Campus. The event was host to informative, thought provoking and vital conversations on mental health, trauma, class and addiction. I spoke about my journey into Clinical Psychology and presented two psychological portraits from Irvine Welsh’s Trainspotting and Graeme Armstrong’s The Young Team.

Communicating Psychology to Lay Audiences event: Edinburgh University Psychology Society. 11th February 2025.

A conversation with Dr Emma Hepburn: Clinical Psychologist, author and illustrator (@thepsychologymum), hosted by Edinburgh University’s Psychology Society.  We explored how we use social media to explore and promote psychological ideas in creative ways. We spoke about navigating social media, being mindful of the pull of playing to the algorithm and keeping our content evidence based, something that runs at the heart of the profession as a Clinical Psychologist.
